Here in Ontario, Canada they have a law that says that if you are caught doing over 50 kph/30 mph over the posted limit you get your license automatically suspended for minimal 5-7 days, minimal $2000.00 fine and your vehicle impounded for that time period....scary thing is that since the law passed last report indicated that they had over 2000 violators...a few weeks ago they clocked a GARBAGE truck breaking that law...municipal truck gets impounded (hopefully it was full of smelly garbage) dri more...

Any fine examples of laws like that in your neck of the woods? less...
Since inception on Sept 30, 2007 they have nabbed 5139 speeders in excess of the 50 kph/30 mph law.
This past long weekend they nabbed 145 vehicles. The winner or rather loser was caught at 235 kph/140 mph. Penalty for 50 kph/30 mph is vehicle seized for 7 days, suspended license for 7 days, 6 demerit points on the license and a fine of $2000-$10000.00 upon conviction. The first 2 are no brainers...you can't get into court before the 7 more...

Follow-up. Was on the news this afternoon...since the program started they have busted over 4000 people - stats are as follows: over 80 of the violators caught are men and majority between ages of 21-25!
In the news a provincial cop was busted for breaking the 50 kph rule while on duty but not on a call... he's been given desk duty until his trial date in June....
Keep it reasonable speed wise and you'll be fine....most of our highways aren't designed for that speed anyway nor is the traffic ever missing....of course we have a nice highway as a bypass called Hwy 407, a toll road....but the provincial cops are often just sitting there waitin' for you....
But I cant figure out the kilometers to mph thing..Im screwed! lol
Holy crap ( didnt say the other word didnt want to get censored!) Im going thru Canada next Friday to MI glad you told me!!
